Whole other approaches

When a class walks into the classroom, some kids are ready for whatever you’re about to teach them. Others aren’t. Finding the sweet spot – the perfect middle ground is where magic can happen.

But an even more interesting question is this – what else is it possible to teach to that same group of students? Today we teach all sorts of things that people would have never thought to teach 100 years ago. The way it is isn’t the only way that it can be. Our lack of imagination is our biggest limitation.

What if we face and teach autonomy and creativity head-on? Can the same ideas that get recycled by experts and coaches be a main part of the class? All sorts of things are possible but it seems like no-one is even looking for them.
