I made the video below about two years ago.
It holds up in a lot of ways! The motorized projects were a definite success…. but there were deeper lessons that I learned as these students returned the next year. Almost zero students were interested in taking it to the next level. This undoubtedly was a stretch project, but I didn’t realize how the lack of pre-teaching the challenge, how to brainstorm, mange the feelings during/after, the vision for epic follow-ups, or even just a reflection and hope for the future.
It is easy to do a cool project with a class. It’s way harder to lead a class to have the ambition to develop their own cool projects.
