Teaching kids to 3D print (and helping others do the same)

A year ago I posted a video with all of the advice that I have gathered over the past 8 years of trying to 3d print in my classroom. Here it is:

This type of thing is still relatively rare in our schools. I see people printing projects where students all designed the same thing, like nametags. I don’t see people letting groups of students run their own printers and manage a more creative class.

This is a good reminder for me – just because something is simple and obvious (to me) doesn’t mean that everyone else knows it. I need to really focus on the basics and help people take step 1, instead of spending all my time on steps 10 through 20.
