Letting students lead more

Today, a conversation with a past student has me thinking about how much I let students lead. It has been easier to keep students all together as we work through the creator types (engineer, designer, digital creator, coder, wordsmith…) but maybe my new structure will allow us to rethink that. The main projects and the overall sequence of Innovative Arts needs to stay the same, but there is opportunity here.

Students can be discussing and ideating in these groups from the first quarter. We can be dreaming big dreams and starting to work towards them. Typing this makes me feel apprehensive, but at the same time, the amount of progress that was made this past year is mind blowing.

A year from now, this will seem like old news. How long can this keep up?
