Letters to students, four years running
I have been considering having each of my students receive a letter and accompanying award at the end of every quarter (I see them one quarter per year, 5th-8th grade). I would make a copy of this letter and send that. Doing this, I would be able to keep the original copy and add to it for each additional quarter, with all the notes from previous quarters included right there. This way, by the time the student reaches 8th grade, they will have four different versions of their letter come at once, allowing them to see how much they’ve grown over a span of four years. As such, this last letter would be an incredibly meaningful artifact helping them recall our four years together.
That would include writing about 500 letter per year (over 100 after each four quarters).
For now, it’s just a thought, but it is one I can’t seem to shake.
