Explicitly teaching important things
What is the most important thing for a student to learn? I would argue that the most important things are also the things that are the most difficult to measure.
Can they figure out how to proceed with something they have never done before?
What should you try after hitting a roadblock?
How quickly do you lower your standards when struggling?
Do you expect to succeed or fail at a task?
Can you be patient with a process that is slower than you would like?
Do you have a long-term vision for yourself?
Some of this is implicitly built into a decent school system. Much if it isn’t. Why can’t some of these lessons be explicitly taught and not left to chance?
