Bursts of progress
Popsicle stick engineering has been in the back of my mind for years. I knew that there was an massive amount of untapped creativity that I could be teaching, it just took 5 years (yikes!) to get there.
I finally had a creativity time with predrilled popsicle sticks… and wow. So many ideas. My students are so excited to get started.
Now I need to make this knowledge repeatable. That means naming, making video instructions, and posting them. Next week, another class will be starting this program, so I have the perfect amount of time to develop sequence and FINALLY nail down this idea.
Popsicle stick engineering: the perfect playground for learning about creativity.
It is so fundamental and open-ended. It is simple or complex. Simple projects can look amazing. It is cheap. It’s engaging (“We get to use a drill?!”).
It’s taken years of trial and error to get to this point. I am so glad to be near the end of it.
